The United Kingdom has raised the living expenses requirement for students from Nigeria and 11 other African countries, effective November 30, according to Peoples Gazette. The updated figures, presented to Parliament on September 3, increase monthly living costs for African students in London from £1,529 to £1,570, and outside London from £1,171 to £1,203.

For a nine-month course, affected students must now prove funds of up to £14,130 in London or £10,827 elsewhere. The changes affect students from Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Cameroon, while students from some other countries remain unaffected by the revised immigration rules. The update was published on the UK Home Office website.
