Unai Emery could find Man United move difficult to reject despite INEOS power struggle
Unai Emery could find it difficult to reject an approach from Manchester United if the club decide to part ways with Michael Carrick, although INEOS’ managerial structure could complicate a potential move.
Carrick’s position has come under renewed scrutiny following United’s defeat to Chelsea, with the former midfielder expected to remain in charge until the November international break.
According to The Peoples Person, citing TEAMtalk, Emery is highly admired at Old Trafford and would welcome another opportunity to manage a major European club.
“Unai Emery is hugely admired by Manchester United. Sources believe another opportunity at one of the world’s biggest clubs would be difficult for Emery to ignore, particularly given how his previous spells at Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal both ended without the success he would of hoped for.”
However, the Spaniard’s potential appointment faces complications, particularly over managerial control. “However, he would be unlikely to enjoy the same degree of control and power at United that has underpinned his achievements at Aston Villa.”
Emery remains contracted to Villa until 2029, while Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann are also reportedly under consideration.
