Under fire over subsidy funds, Tinubu promises cheaper transport from October
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday night announced plans to reduce transportation costs nationwide, directing the rollout of an additional 500 CNG stations and more conversion kits, doubling the programme to 1,000 stations, according to a statement published by Peoples Gazette.
Tinubu said the measure followed talks with the Governors’ Forum, who resolved to leverage CNG and electric vehicles to cut intra-state transport costs from October 1.
The announcement comes amid public scrutiny over the administration’s use of fuel subsidy savings, with ADC’s Atiku Abubakar accusing the government of worsening hardship.
