US military strikes three Iranian oil tankers after missile attacks on Navy ships

U.S. forces struck three Iranian oil tankers Saturday after Navy warships were targeted with missiles, according to a report by the The Hill. The U.S. military said an aircraft carrier and destroyer evaded “unprovoked Iranian attacks” while patrolling, with no American personnel harmed.

Two tankers were “permanently disabled” and a third destroyed, officials said, describing them as part of a shadow network funding Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. Adm. Brad Cooper of U.S. Central Command warned Washington would “destroy Iran’s limited and exposed oil fleet” if necessary. The strikes follow six months of intermittent war since Feb. 28, when U.S. and Israeli attacks began, and come a day after President Trump downplayed the conflict as “small potatoes.”
