US, Nigeria hold joint military training exercises in Bauchi

US and Nigerian military forces are conducting joint training exercises at the US military’s Operating Location in Bauchi, aimed at strengthening capabilities and deepening bilateral cooperation. According to Daily Post Nigeria, the United States Africa Command said the programme covers combat lifesaving, weapons familiarisation, explosive ordnance disposal, small-unit tactics and unmanned aircraft systems.

Nigerian forces select training areas based on their needs, officials said. Captain Gabriel Feingold noted the exercises build relationships at lower military levels. Sergeant Mark Murphy trained about 10 Nigerian Air Force Special Forces personnel on unmanned aircraft systems. Additional training opportunities are being developed as both nations pursue wider security cooperation.
