US, UK, Australia issue travel warnings over Houthi attacks on Saudi airports
The United States, United Kingdom and Australia have issued travel warnings to their citizens over security threats and flight disruptions following Houthi attacks on airports in Saudi Arabia.
According to Peoples Gazette, the Australian Embassy advised citizens to postpone trips to Saudi Arabia, including religious visits, and consider leaving while commercial flights remain available.
“The Houthis have threatened to target Saudi airports and airspace. Air travel is significantly disrupted at all major airports, with regular airspace closures, flight cancellations and delays,” the embassy warned.
The US mission confirmed that operations at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport remained suspended through October 17, while Jeddah and Dammam experienced disruptions.
Meanwhile, Britain advised against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia.
Air India Express also suspended flights to Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam until Tuesday.
The warnings followed a reported Houthi attack on a Saudi airport that killed at least 12 people and injured over 300 others.
