USA can deport leader of Wisconsin’s largest mosque on national security grounds, judge rules…
A U.S. immigration judge ruled that the government can deport Salah Sarsour, the president of Wisconsin’s largest mosque, citing foreign policy and national security concerns.
Sarsour, a Palestinian-born activist and longtime leader of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, was targeted under policies targeting actions deemed adverse to American foreign policy. While the judge approved the deportation grounds, the court dismissed allegations that Sarsour lied on his immigration documents.
Sarsour’s legal team strongly criticized the decision, arguing that it penalizes political advocacy and threatens free speech protections. Denying any wrongdoing, Sarsour pledged to appeal the ruling, ensuring he will remain in the country while the legal challenge proceeds.
