Valencia sack Carlos Corberan and CEO Ron Gourlay after disastrous start
Valencia have sacked manager Carlos Corberan and chief executive Ron Gourlay following a disastrous start to the LaLiga season. The club are bottom of the table after collecting just one point from their opening five matches, leaving both men under mounting pressure from supporters.
According to The Independent, Corberan, who took charge in December 2024 and helped Valencia avoid relegation before guiding them to ninth last season, leaves after 72 matches with 28 wins and 26 defeats.
Gourlay, who joined the club in May 2025, has also been dismissed as Valencia look to overhaul their football operations. Several members of Gourlay’s staff and Corberan’s coaching team have also left. Valencia Mestalla coach Oscar Sanchez will take interim charge, with Deportivo Alaves next on Tuesday.
