Emmanuel Petit claims Arsenal ‘dodged a bullet’ by missing out on Vinicius Junior
Emmanuel Petit believes Arsenal may have “dodged a bullet” by failing to sign Vinicius Junior during the summer transfer window, despite Mikel Arteta’s reported interest in the Real Madrid winger. Arsenal were linked with a major move for the Brazilian as they searched for a marquee wide attacker, but ultimately signed Christos Tzolis as their main addition in that position.
According to The Hard Tackle, Petit has questioned whether Vinicius’ mentality would have suited Arteta’s demanding management style, pointing to the winger’s recent confrontation with Jose Mourinho as an example. “In terms of his mentality, I am not sure he is a good fit for Arsenal,” Petit said. The former Arsenal midfielder admitted Vinicius’ talent is undeniable but believes his personality could have created problems.
