Atiku accuses Tinubu of lying on subsidy savings as ASUU strike looms
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the Tinubu administration of deceiving Nigerians over the use of fuel subsidy savings, arguing that a looming ASUU strike exposes the government’s failure to deliver on its education promises.
In a statement by his aide Phrank Shaibu, as reported by Gazette NGR, Atiku said Nigerians have paid a heavy price through higher fuel, transport, food and energy costs, yet public universities remain underfunded and lecturers are again threatening industrial action over unpaid entitlements.
He questioned why increased federal allocations to states have not translated into improved public education, further noting that several state universities have also faced disruptions under the current administration.
Atiku also criticised the government’s student loan scheme, NELFUND, describing it as offering loans to cushion hardship the administration itself created.
He concluded by demanding accountability, insisting Tinubu must answer “where is the money” promised from subsidy removal.
