VeryDarkMan apologises to soldiers, police over ‘unknown gunmen’ remark

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has apologised to soldiers, police, customs and immigration personnel over his controversial remarks at the Nigerian Bar Association’s 66th Annual General Conference.

In a video released Friday, Otse said describing security personnel as “unknown gunmen” was unfair, particularly to soldiers risking their lives against Boko Haram and other insurgents.

He said his criticism was aimed at alleged “bad eggs” within security agencies whom he accused of corruption, sabotage and leaking sensitive information.

Otse also apologised to the families of fallen security personnel, while urging agency leaders to address misconduct within their ranks.

He said his comments were not intended to demoralise genuine officers, according to The Whistler.
