WAEC: Computer-based testing key to curbing exam fraud
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has called for strict computer-based testing to curb examination malpractice at so-called “miracle centres.”
According to Vanguard News, WAEC’s Makurdi office official, Timothy Manga, told the News Agency of Nigeria that while there was no official confirmation of such centres in Benue State, allegations remained worrisome.
A teacher, Rebecca Ezekiel, backed independent examination centres with biometric verification and CCTV monitoring, while school proprietor Jude Odeh said some parents changed schools due to high examination and tuition costs rather than malpractice concerns.
