West Ham turns to Parker following dismissal of Nuno
West Ham United are expected to appoint Scott Parker as head coach after sacking Nuno Espirito Santo, BBC Sport reports. The club are in advanced talks with the former Burnley, Bournemouth and Fulham boss, who could be confirmed before Wednesday’s Championship trip to Cardiff City.
Nuno, 52, was dismissed after a disappointing start to the Championship season, having overseen the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season. West Ham are eighth, six points behind leaders Middlesbrough, after back-to-back home defeats to Southampton and West Bromwich Albion. Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also left.
“Following a thorough review of the start to the EFL Championship season, the board of directors believe that a change is necessary at this time in order to ensure that the club’s objectives and expectations remain on track,” a West Ham United statement read. Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge for the Cardiff trip.
