The Chief Imam of Ilaro, Ogun State, Tajudeen Adewunmi, has explained why he returned N25 million entrusted to him by late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Adewunmi, speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba shared on Instagram, as reported by The Punch, said Ogogo transferred the money to him to rebuild his grandfather’s house before his death.
The Imam said he documented the transaction and informed members of Ogogo’s family about the funds. Following the actor’s death, Adewunmi said he clarified rumours that the money was meant for a mosque project and subsequently transferred the N25 million to Ogogo’s elder brother’s account.
