Why Premier League rivals should be concerned Arsenal are already six points clear at the top
Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Hull City opened a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League, and pundit Danny Murphy says rivals should be worried because the champions are winning without playing well.
Arsenal’s rivals should be worried by the champions’ six-point lead despite a lack of top form, Danny Murphy has said, the Daily Mirror reports.
Arsenal have won nine of their first 10 league games after Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Hull City, with Martin Odegaard scoring the only goal. The result opened a six-point gap over Manchester City, who may face a significant points penalty after being found guilty of breaching financial rules.
“I think what’s worrying for everyone else is they’ve got this amount of wins, this amount of points, and they haven’t really played that well,” Murphy said on Match of the Day. “There’s more to come from this team, make no qualms about that.”
Jamie Redknapp, speaking on Sky Sports after City lost a third straight game to Nottingham Forest, tipped Brighton as the likeliest challengers. “I don’t really see anything else other than Arsenal running away with this title at the moment,” he said.
