Wife of victim killed in Amazon plane’s runway crash files wrongful death suit
The wife of a man killed when an Amazon-branded cargo plane overran a runway at Miami International Airport has filed a wrongful death lawsuit, according to NBC News. Yaraisi Santiso Morejon filed the suit Wednesday, naming Amazon, Amazon Air Cargo, cargo airline 21 Air and the two surviving pilots as defendants, alleging the crash resulted from “multiple, concurrent failures.”
The Boeing 767-300 overran the runway Sunday, striking a cleaning service van and a passenger SUV, killing five people including Morejon’s husband, Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo. The lawsuit accuses pilots Joseph Carroll and Jaime Felipe Silva Molina of attempting a high-speed, tailwind-affected landing and cites inadequate training. Attorney Mike Morgan said the plane overshot the runway by more than 1,000 feet. The National Transportation Safety Board investigation remains ongoing.
