Zelenskyy’s jet narrowly avoided drone strike, Norway says
A plane carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from Moldova to Oslo was nearly hit by a drone, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store has revealed.
Euronews reports that Store told public broadcaster NRK the flight “was almost hit by a drone when it was taking off from Moldova,” describing it as “the reality he lives in.”
Zelenskyy had travelled to Oslo to attend the funeral of King Harald V, where he also met Store, Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg and Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide to discuss Norwegian military and civilian assistance to Ukraine.
Store said talks on air defence support were ongoing, noting Ukraine has “holes in the roof” that industry partners are working to help fill.
Zelenskyy has since travelled to Canada for further discussions with allied leaders.
