Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers APC governorship candidate Kingsley Chinda have met Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his supporters as efforts to strengthen political reconciliation in Rivers State continue.
According to Channels Television, the closed-door meeting in Port Harcourt lasted about four hours and brought together key figures from the rival political camps.
Wike and Chinda reportedly arrived at Fubara’s residence with their supporters around 4 p.m., with discussions continuing until about 8 p.m.
The meeting marked the first known occasion Fubara personally participated in a reconciliation meeting alongside his supporters following years of political disagreements that deeply divided Rivers politics.
Neither Wike, Chinda nor Fubara addressed journalists afterwards, leaving details of the discussions and any agreements reached undisclosed.
However, the meeting signals continued efforts by both camps to move beyond their differences and establish a more coordinated political relationship.
The rapprochement could prove significant as Rivers political actors position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
