Xabi Alonso explains Enzo Fernandez omission as Man City consider late move
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has explained Enzo Fernandez’s latest omission as Manchester City continue to monitor the midfielder ahead of the transfer deadline. Fernandez was left out of Chelsea’s squad entirely for Thursday’s victory over Luton after also remaining on the bench in their previous Premier League match.
Alonso insisted the decision was based on squad management and giving other players opportunities, stressing that the Argentine remains a professional in training. Fernandez is reportedly valued at around £120 million by Chelsea, while City are considering a late approach for the 25-year-old, according to Daily Mirror.
