You’re not Abraham Lincoln — Shettima berates Atiku for ‘disrespecting’ Tinubu
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has criticised former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar over what he described as disrespectful comments about President Bola Tinubu, Vanguard reported. Shettima spoke on Wednesday at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election, held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He said Atiku’s repeated presidential bids and recent policy proposals did not excuse language he considered disrespectful toward the sitting president. “You can call him Bola. If you like, you can call him Adekunle. But the truth is that he is the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Shettima said.
He also questioned how Atiku’s proposal for production subsidies would be funded. “Who pays? Who benefits? And which competing priorities must surrender their funding?” he asked. Shettima added that Atiku Abubakar, who has contested the presidency for the eighth time, “is no Abraham Lincoln. He is more of Oginga Odinga.”
