Zelensky says Trump gives Ukraine green light to manufacture Patriot missiles

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says US President Donald Trump has made a “final decision” allowing Ukraine to manufacture Patriot missiles as Kyiv faces continued Russian aerial attacks.

According to CNN, Zelensky said concrete agreements were reached and Trump confirmed Ukraine would receive a licence to produce the advanced air-defence missiles.

The leaders met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week.

Zelensky also said Washington proposed three-way talks involving Ukraine, Russia and the United States, with the United Arab Emirates suggested as a possible venue.

No date has been fixed for the talks, while Russia has yet to make a firm commitment to participate.

Kyiv has faced sustained Russian aerial attacks in recent weeks, increasing demand for stronger air defences.
