2027: Makinde’s kinsmen deny endorsing him as preferred presidential candidate
The presidential ambition of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate Seyi Makinde has suffered a setback after Ibadanland’s traditional institutions distanced themselves from a viral video allegedly endorsing him and APM governorship candidate Bimbo Adekanmbi, according to The Nation.
The video reportedly showed individuals identified as mogajis declaring their support ahead of the 2027 elections. In a joint statement, the President of Ibadan Mogajis, Asimiyu Ariori, and the Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative’s Nurudeen Akinade, said the over 400-member association was never consulted. They described the endorsement as unauthorized, urged the public to disregard it, and cautioned against actions that could threaten peace before, during, and after the 2027 polls.
