2027: Tinubu warns clerics against using pulpits to incite violence
President Bola Tinubu has urged Christian leaders to promote peace and responsible participation ahead of the 2027 general election, warning against using the pulpit to incite violence.
According to Vanguard, Tinubu spoke at the 2026 International Synod of Charismatic Archbishops, Bishops and Apostles in Abuja. Represented by SGF George Akume, he urged clerics to oppose vote buying, hate speech and religious or ethnic manipulation.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Leonard Bature Kawas declared the group’s support for Tinubu’s re-election, saying the Church would back him through prayers, advocacy and public engagement.
