Osun sues EFCC over freezing of government accounts
The Osun State Government is heading to court after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission froze accounts belonging to the state government.
According to PUNCH, Attorney General Oluwole Jimi-Bada said Governor Ademola Adeleke authorised him to challenge the action at the Federal High Court.
Jimi-Bada said the EFCC issued a post-no-debit directive to First Bank, where the accounts are domiciled.
He argued that while the commission could investigate the accounts, it could not freeze them without a court order.
Adeleke’s government warned the action could disrupt government operations ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
