FG orders hourly seismic updates as tremors shake Abuja

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has directed the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency to provide hourly updates on seismic developments around Abuja, Peoples Gazette reports.

The directive followed an NGSA alert that tremors affected several buildings in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday. The agency said its Utako station detected the tremor at 11:23 a.m., originating from one kilometre deep and classified as a light seismic event.

Alake urged residents to remain calm, assuring them necessary safety measures had been deployed.
