Gianni Infantino denies allegations over UEFA payment to alleged lover
FIFA president Gianni Infantino is facing renewed scrutiny after an investigation by The Daily Telegraph alleged that UEFA paid a six-figure severance sum to a woman who reportedly had a relationship with him during his time at the organisation.
Infantino, who led UEFA from 2009 to 2016, strongly denied the allegations through a spokesman, calling them “categorically untrue”. UEFA confirmed a departure payment was made but said it included funding for the woman’s MBA course and complied with regulations at the time.
The claims emerge as Infantino faces mounting calls to resign over his abandoned World Cup private-investment plans.
