Nigeria’s flag football squads miss Olympic qualifying world championship following visa setback
Nigeria’s men’s and women’s flag football teams will miss this week’s world championships in Germany after failing to secure visas, according to CBC Sports. The tournament is the first Olympic qualifying event for the sport ahead of its LA28 debut. Teams scheduled to face Nigeria will receive automatic group-stage wins. IFAF said it worked for 10 days with Nigerian authorities to resolve the issue but was informed visas wouldn’t arrive in time. Nigeria can still qualify for LA28 by finishing top-two at next year’s continental championship, advancing to the final “Olympic Q-Series” qualifier.
