APC campaign DG’s nephew allegedly shot dead as pre-election violence grips Osun
The Osun APC has alleged that Dele Ayegbo, nephew of governorship campaign Director-General Wole Oke, was shot dead in Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government Area on Wednesday night — two days before Saturday’s governorship election — with the party blaming Accord Party hoodlums for the killing.
As reported by TheCable, APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi said Ayegbo was gunned down at a road junction near his home in the Idofin area of the town by occupants of a car. A second party member was also shot and hospitalised.
The APC alleged over 30 of its members have been killed by political thugs since 2022, with 17 deaths concentrated in Ijesaland. The party called on police to act swiftly to prevent voter intimidation on Saturday.
Osun Police Command spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi had not responded to requests for comment as of filing time.
