Cameroon beat Malawi 3-0 to win first WAFCON title
Cameroon have won their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title after beating tournament debutants Malawi 3-0 in Sunday’s final in Rabat.
According to BBC Sport, Marie Ngah Manga opened the scoring after 20 minutes before Naomi Eto doubled Cameroon’s advantage with a stunning volley 10 minutes later.
Ngah Manga struck again in first-half stoppage time after Eto rounded goalkeeper Mercy Sikelo and provided the assist.
Malawi’s prolific Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa, were kept quiet by Cameroon’s defence as their remarkable tournament run ended.
Cameroon, who previously lost Wafcon finals in 2004, 2014 and 2016, collected $2 million in prize money.
Both finalists have also qualified for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
