Christians killings: Real reason US won’t remove Nigeria’s CPC tag —Congressman Moore
US Congressman Riley Moore has insisted that Nigeria must remain on Washington’s Country of Particular Concern designation list over the persistent killing of Christians in the Middle Belt, citing the latest deadly attack in Plateau State as evidence that the designation cannot be lifted.
In a post on his official X handle, Moore wrote: “We absolutely cannot remove the CPC designation from Nigeria while radical Islamic terrorists continue this horrific violence against Christians,” backing the US Bureau of African Affairs’ condemnation of the Plateau attack that killed over 24 residents sleeping in their homes.
As reported by Vanguard, the Bureau described the attack as “especially troubling” given the recent CPC Working Group meeting, urging Nigeria to “meet their commitments to protect Christian communities and hold perpetrators accountable.”
The Christian Elders and Professionals Consultative Council of Nigeria also expressed support for US concerns, as renewed congressional pressure mounts on the Trump administration to maintain Nigeria’s CPC status.
