Judge moves to declare mistrial in Lindsay Clancy case, allows one-hour appeal
According to AP News, Judge William Sullivan nearly declared a mistrial Friday in the Lindsay Clancy case before abruptly pausing to give her defense team an hour to respond, after jurors said for a third time they could not reach a unanimous verdict. Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, is accused of killing her three young children in 2023; her attorneys argue she was experiencing postpartum psychosis, while prosecutors contend she understood her actions.
The deadlock followed a tense Thursday session in which the jury’s foreperson told the court one juror was refusing to follow instructions on reasonable doubt, deepening uncertainty over the case’s outcome.
