Police alert Nigerians over possible terrorist attacks on schools, worship centres, NYSC camps
The Nigeria Police Force has issued a nationwide security alert over intelligence indicating increased mobilisation of terrorist elements for possible coordinated attacks on schools, places of worship, NYSC orientation camps and other vulnerable targets, SaharaReporters reports.
In a wireless message dated September 13, 2026, the Force identified the North-East, North-West, North-Central and parts of the South-West as areas of concern. It also reported the movement of armed elements from Katsina through Kaduna towards Plateau State and suspected ISWAP surveillance of potential targets.
Police commanders were directed to intensify intelligence-led surveillance, patrols, stop-and-search operations and access control, while strengthening security at borders and working with other agencies to prevent attacks.
