Liverpool facing injury crisis as Szoboszlai and Frimpong suffer hamstring setbacks
Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong are facing spells on the sidelines after sustaining hamstring injuries during Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Brentford.
Szoboszlai lasted just 32 minutes after re-aggravating a muscular issue that previously kept him out, while second-half substitute Frimpong limped off less than ten minutes after introduction. Both players are scheduled for medical scans ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Villarreal.
Speaking after the match, Iraola attributed the physical toll to a congested fixture calendar and limited recovery time following Wednesday’s European fixture.
With Conor Bradley already sidelined, Ronald Araujo is expected to continue at right-back, while Alexis Mac Allister and teenage prospect Trey Nyoni may see increased midfield duties. According to Sports Mole, the setbacks leave the Merseyside club navigating a delicate selection dilemma.
