Enzo Maresca downplays Erling Haaland injury concern following win
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has dispelled major fears surrounding Erling Haaland after the striker limped down the tunnel following Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town.
Haaland scored twice in the win—becoming the fastest player in Premier League history to reach 100 non-penalty goals in 139 games—before sustaining a late foot knock. However, Maresca confirmed the forward personally reassured him the injury was “nothing serious.”
While Haaland’s outlook is positive, City face broader fitness concerns as Antoine Semenyo also hobbled off at full-time and awaits further evaluation. With Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes downplaying minor knocks, Nico O’Reilly continues to struggle with a back issue.
The fitness scares come at a critical time as City prepare for a grueling run of six matches in three weeks, starting with Tuesday’s Champions League clash against AEK Athens. According to Sports Mole, City will closely monitor Semenyo’s status ahead of upcoming fixtures.
