Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has revealed that Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat was his bunkmate in boarding school 49 years ago.
According to Daily Post, Otedola disclosed this on Monday in an X post announcing a dinner he hosted in Hamzat’s honour.
The event was attended by billionaires Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, chairman of BUA Group.
Otedola described Hamzat as the incoming Lagos governor, praising his integrity and longstanding friendship.
“Yesterday, I hosted dinner in honour of @DrObafemiHamzat, the incoming Governor of Lagos State.
“A man of the highest integrity, with whom I shared a bunk bed at boarding school 49 years ago.
“My experience of his character over the years has been defined by his honesty, sincerity, fairness and strong moral principles…” he wrote.
Hamzat, who has served as deputy governor since 2019, is the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
He is seeking to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whose second term ends in 2027.
