Kelechi Iheanacho sets historic Turkish football record with 11-game scoring streak
Former Celtic forward Kelechi Iheanacho has etched his name into the history books by setting a new Turkish football record after scoring in 11 consecutive league matches, according to a report by the Glasgow Times.
The Nigerian international achieved the milestone during Bursaspor’s 2-0 victory against Pendikspor. The strike extended his personal scoring streak to 12 straight games across all competitions, including an international goal for Nigeria in a 3-3 draw against Russia.
Over his historic 11-game league run in the Turkish second tier, Iheanacho has netted 15 goals—marking the longest consecutive league scoring sequence in the country’s football history.
Having left Celtic over contract disagreements following a title-winning campaign last season, Iheanacho expressed pride in his achievement, stating he remains focused on living in the present and helping Bursaspor win the league title while keeping his future options open.
