FG, Bi-Courtney end 20-year dispute as FAAN begins MMA2 revenue collection
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced revenue collection from Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) following the resolution of a nearly 20-year dispute with Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited.
According to PUNCH, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo announced the development on Tuesday during the formalisation of a settlement agreement approved by the Federal Executive Council.
“FAAN had not earned a kobo from MMA2 for the last 20 years because of disputes.
“Today, FAAN begins to earn its money from MMA2,” Keyamo said.
The agreement resolves longstanding disagreements over concession fees, financial claims and ownership of airport facilities.
Under the settlement, the General Aviation Terminal will remain government property, while Bi-Courtney can expand its apron and accommodate regional African flights at MMA2, subject to capacity.
Both parties also agreed to waive outstanding historical claims.
The settlement additionally covers abandoned hotel and conference centre projects near the airport.
Keyamo said the agreement would restore revenue, encourage investment and improve airport operations after years of litigation.
