Fresh details have emerged about Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola patient, with reports indicating she arrived in Abuja aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight on October 3, 2026.

According to Vanguard, the woman travelled through Uganda and Addis Ababa before reaching Nigeria.

An aviation source cited by Vanguard identified her flight as ET333, although the details remain unverified.

The World Health Organisation confirmed that laboratory tests identified the Bundibugyo strain, for which no approved vaccine or specific treatment currently exists.

Health Minister Muhammad Pate confirmed that 44 contacts had been identified for monitoring, including healthcare workers, patients, caregivers and travel contacts.

The patient, who developed symptoms on October 7, remains isolated and is receiving medical care.

Meanwhile, Uganda has requested detailed travel records, maintaining that the woman’s transit through its territory does not establish where she contracted the virus.

Nigeria’s health authorities have intensified contact tracing, hospital surveillance and infection prevention measures nationwide to prevent further transmission.
