Dele Momodu: APC using statistics to tell lies…
Dele Momodu, Deputy Director-General of Media and Communications for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of manipulating economic statistics to mislead Nigerians.
According to Vanguard, Momodu made the allegation on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, October 22, while criticising President Bola Tinubu’s administration over economic management.
“What the APC is doing today is to use those statistics to tell lies and to say The World Bank are for us, The IMF are for us,” he said.
Momodu alleged that the government frequently cited international institutions when their assessments appeared favourable but attacked them when they raised concerns about Nigeria’s economic direction.
He argued that the administration was fighting criticism from the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and The Economist rather than addressing economic challenges.
The ADC chieftain further accused government officials of withholding uncomfortable economic realities from Tinubu.
“What is lacking in this government is that sincerity,” he declared.
Momodu maintained that economic hardship could undermine the APC’s chances in the 2027 presidential election, regardless of political alliances.
“There is no permutation that will beat hunger,” he said, insisting that Nigerians’ economic difficulties could determine the election’s outcome.
