Permanent secretary suspended over fake agency probe reinstated by Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has reinstated the Permanent Secretary, Finance (Special Duties), Mohammed Danjuma, Punch reports.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Olumuyiwa Abel, conveyed the President’s approval in a letter dated October 22, stating that Danjuma’s reinstatement took effect from October 21, following his suspension over an investigation into the activities of a purported government agency.
According to the letter, Danjuma was suspended on August 21 alongside two other permanent secretaries, following a report by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission on the activities of an organisation known as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office. The organisation was allegedly promoted by George Buchi Nwabueze, with suspected involvement of some public servants in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“Following due diligence, Tinubu approved the lifting of Danjuma’s suspension and directed him to resume his duties in accordance with the Public Service Rules, relevant regulations and ethical standards of the Federal Civil Service,” the letter read in part, adding that his reinstatement took effect from October 21, 2026.
The development comes as investigations into the activities of the alleged fake agency and those connected to it continue, with authorities yet to disclose further details on the outcome of the probe into the two other suspended permanent secretaries or the extent of any wrongdoing established against Danjuma during the review period.
