Outrage as APC youth leader distributes seven Prado SUVs for 2027 elections, deletes post after backlash
APC youth leader deletes post after announcing seven Prado SUVs for election mobilisation
The National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dayo Israel, has sparked widespread outrage after announcing the distribution of seven brand-new 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUVs to selected party youth leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Premium Times, Israel shared a video of the vehicles on X on Sunday before deleting the post approximately three hours later following public criticism.
“Today, I presented brand new 2026 Prado to my committed selected youth leaders to aid their election mobilisation activities,” he wrote.
He thanked First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for her “continuous support to the party structure” under his leadership.
“The party is supreme and that supremacy will show in our action in this election period – we will deliver polling unit by polling unit,” he added.
The announcement triggered criticism from Nigerians questioning the expenditure amid worsening economic hardship.
Some social media users estimated the vehicles could cost over ₦1 billion, arguing that such resources could support healthcare and education.
However, the actual purchase price and funding source remain undisclosed.
Israel has not publicly explained why he deleted the controversial post.
