Barcelona face La Liga investigation following alleged assault on Eduardo Camavinga in El Clasico
Barcelona are facing potential disciplinary action following ugly scenes during Sunday’s El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid, according to GOAL.
The Spanish top flight is set to report an alleged assault to the Spanish Football Federation’s (RFEF) disciplinary committee after a spectator at Camp Nou violently swung a flagpole at Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
The incident occurred during Madrid’s goal celebrations following a winning strike from Kylian Mbappé, which was set up by Camavinga. The hostile atmosphere also saw water bottles and missiles thrown from the stands, prompting a stadium-wide announcement and a temporary suspension of play.
Referee Juan Martinez Munuera documented the disturbances in his post-match report. Authorities are now reviewing broadcast footage to identify the culprits, leaving the Catalan giants facing potential sanctions such as partial stadium closures or fines.
