Remember the Panama Papers? ‘Saint Peter’ says things he doesn’t practise — Onanuga mocks Obi
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has accused Peter Obi of hypocrisy over his comments on managing public funds.
According to Daily Post, Onanuga criticised the former Anambra State governor on Wednesday after Obi argued that Nigeria would be wealthier if successive leaders had preserved public funds in banks.
Reacting on X, Onanuga questioned Obi’s financial accountability, referencing allegations concerning offshore assets and business interests.
“Peter Obi likes to say things he doesn’t actually do. Remember the Panama Papers?
“Peter Obi had undeclared offshore assets and business holdings when he was Anambra governor, as shown in the global leak reports.
“And here, Saint Peter is giving his opinion, fooling his followers.”
The controversy surrounding Obi’s offshore interests was documented in the 2021 Pandora Papers investigation.
Obi previously acknowledged the non-disclosure but maintained that he violated no law.
Onanuga’s remarks have renewed scrutiny of Obi’s financial accountability claims.
