VIDEO: Catholic priest leads congregation in pro-Obi, Kwankwaso song
A Catholic priest has reportedly led worshippers in singing a political song praising Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, during a church service on Sunday.
According to a viral video shared on X, the cleric sang in Igbo while members of the congregation joined him.
“Party Peter Obi ka mma; Party Kwankwaso, ka mma! [Peter Obi’s party is better; Kwankwaso’s party is better!],” he sang.
The incident comes amid growing political involvement by religious leaders ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Previously, Islamic cleric Sani Jingir urged Muslims to support a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, drawing criticism from Kwankwaso.
Similarly, the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term during its 2026 synod in Abuja.
The development has renewed discussions about religious leaders’ involvement in partisan politics.
The priest’s identity and whether his church authorities approved the performance remain unconfirmed. Nigeria
