Stevens ‘flushed herself down the toilet’: Van Jones
Liberal commentator Van Jones has criticised Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens for endorsing Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan’s Senate race, The Hill reports.
Speaking on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” on Sunday, Jones praised Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed for staying focused on Michigan voters instead of responding personally to Stevens.
He said Stevens lost moral authority when she began talking about herself, though he added that El-Sayed’s message had been too narrow.
“Haley just flushed herself down the toilet,” Jones said.
El-Sayed, who defeated Stevens in a bitter primary this summer, also brushed off the endorsement. He told reporters in Detroit that it carried no weight and that he was focused on Michigan’s 10 million residents.
Stevens backed Rogers on Sunday, two days before the midterm elections, after days of feuding with El-Sayed over his response to a controversial anti-Israel ad.
According to NewsNation, El-Sayed had disinvited her from a planned joint appearance.
