Matheus Cunha inspires stunning comeback as Manchester United fight back to beat Roma 3-2

Manchester United produced a remarkable late comeback to defeat Roma 3-2 at Old Trafford, handing manager Michael Carrick a much-needed boost after a difficult spell.

According to the Daily Mail, United recovered from a disastrous first-half performance in which Matias Soule and Donyell Malen gave the visitors a two-goal advantage.

Bruno Fernandes reduced the deficit early in the second half, converting a retaken penalty after his initial effort was saved. VAR had ordered a retake following encroachment by Roma defenders.

Matheus Cunha then became the hero, scoring twice in the closing stages, with goals in the 83rd and 86th minutes completing the turnaround. The Brazilian was subsequently sent off after receiving two yellow cards, but his dismissal could not overshadow United’s dramatic victory.

The result offers Carrick temporary relief ahead of Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Aston Villa, although questions remain over United’s inconsistent performances.
