How Adeboye ordered refund of billions traced to crime proceeds — EFCC boss
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede says Pastor Enoch Adeboye ordered RCCG to refund billions of naira donated to a church project after the funds were traced to proceeds of crime.
The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has revealed that Pastor Enoch Adeboye ordered the refund of billions of naira donated to a Redeemed Christian Church of God project after the money was traced to proceeds of crime.
According to The Punch, Olukoyede disclosed this while addressing RCCG workers on Saturday ahead of the church’s Holy Ghost Congress.
He said “a church member had donated billions of naira towards an RCCG project, but investigations later revealed that the money was proceeds of financial crime.”
Olukoyede commended “Adeboye for ordering the refund shortly after the church was alerted.”
The EFCC chairman did not disclose the donor’s identity, the project or the exact amount involved.
Olukoyede warned “church workers against accepting suspicious donations and pursuing money through questionable means.”
He expressed concern over cases involving church leaders and financial crimes, urging religious organisations to maintain transparent records and verify the sources of donations before accepting them.
