After 30 years, Judge Judy retires, hands gavel to son Adam Levy
Judge Judy Sheindlin is retiring from on-camera work after nearly 30 years, passing her gavel to her son, Judge Adam Levy, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The 83-year-old told People magazine that when “Judy Justice” wraps in October, she plans to step back and focus on other projects, including an animated series called “Judyverse” based on AI-generated “Baby Judge Judy” videos.
Sheindlin will produce her son’s new syndicated court show, “Adam’s Law,” which debuts Monday, further stating that Levy has what it takes to carry an unscripted half-hour on his own.
Levy, 58, earned his law degree from Hofstra Law School in 1992 and previously appeared on Prime’s “Tribunal Justice.”
CBS will mark the moment with a 30th-anniversary special, “Judge Judy: Unfiltered, Unforgettable,” airing September 22, as Sheindlin reflects on entering a new, more contented chapter of her life.
