Agbebaku breaks silence over resignation as Edo speaker

Former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, says he resigned for personal reasons and in the interest of peace, the state, and his constituency.

According to Punch Newspapers, Agbebaku disclosed this in a statement on Monday amid moves by lawmakers to remove him. He denied any rift with colleagues, thanked Governor Monday Okpebholo, and congratulated his successor, Yekini Idaiye.

However, Idaiye accused Agbebaku of corruption and poor leadership, citing prolonged adjournments that stalled legislative work during his three-year tenure as Speaker.
