Argentina offers citizenship for $350,000 investment

Argentina has announced a citizenship-by-investment programme allowing foreigners to obtain citizenship by investing at least $350,000 as President Javier Milei’s government seeks to attract foreign capital.

According to PUNCH, applicants can make a “direct, non-refundable contribution of $350,000 to the National Treasury” or subscribe to an $800,000 government bond created for the programme.

Spouses and children can also obtain citizenship through additional contributions of $100,000, or $25,000 for applicants under 18.

“The resources obtained will be used to continue strengthening the fiscal and financial position of the Argentine Republic,” the government said.

Argentina’s economy ministry said investments would undergo a “rigorous evaluation process (…) guaranteeing the traceability of funds, the prevention of money laundering, and national security.”

The programme follows a Supreme Court decision removing restrictions on foreign purchases of rural land.

Argentina received $3.134 billion in foreign direct investment in 2025, according to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, significantly below Brazil and Mexico.
